Stylish Sneakers

Sneakers have long stepped out of locker rooms and gyms. These days, they are paraded in the streets of fashion capitals worldwide. Models are using the Bonney as their official “off-duty” shoes in the same manner that they are using slouchy but glamorous wraparounds. They want to be casual without looking like a slacker. Not being standard sneaker fare and not quite being the hottest upscale footwear of choice, the Bonney’s androgynous nature makes it a favourite of creative types. The streets of Berlin, Shanghai, and New York have seen designers, writers, and other artists take on the Bonney as staple wear.

That being said, it’s hard for most people to pull off such irony in their clothing and even harder for urbanites to sneak in this particular sneaker into their corporate-regulated wardrobes. A rose by any other name is still a rose and a Bonney, even if it is a Coach, can never pass off as a leather shoe.

When cautious about a shoe’s appeal to the market, brands normally only mass produce them in the most basic widths. They also normally only sell them in selected shops worldwide. The biggest danger that the Bonney faces is that it is a fad of the moment and that people are aware of it.
